What is the Georgetown First Nations TEK Community Gathering?
The Community Gathering is an opportunity to bring together the NVG community in Georgetown to share and learn traditional knowledge.
When is the Georgetown First Nations TEK Gathering?
The Gathering is a 3-day event and will take place from July 29th to July 31st (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
What days should I expect to travel to the gathering?
We recommend that people travel to Georgetown on July 28th and travel back home on August 1st.
Can participants apply for a subsidy to get out to Georgetown?
Yes! We have some funds available to help people get to Georgetown. Please apply here by June 24th, 2022. Please note that while we will try to help as many people as we can, we may not be able to help everyone.
We also have multiple temporary employment opportunities that we are looking to fill to help us with the gathering. NVG will cover the transportation cost for NVG staff. You can apply for employment here.
I don’t have a boat. Can I still attend?
No boat no problem. We’re going to do our best to help coordinate boat travel when needed.
Does my child need to go with an adult?
Yes. We are unable to supervise children.
Are you hiring anyone to help with the gathering?
Yes! Here’s a list of open positions that we are hiring for. The application deadline is June 20th, 2022, but early applications are encouraged.
